"The Logical Way to be Informed"

Special Needs Advice
This service may be requested by parents as part of the process of drawing up a Statement of Special Educational Needs for a child.  Assessment for a Statement is undertaken by a local education authority where the young person has specific learning requirements which cannot be met through normal school provision. The Appendix of Parental Advice forms part of the documentation attached to a Statement and parents may include reports from additional professionals as part of any assessment evidence for the child?s needs. It is common for a psychologist?s report to be included where additional evidence is supplied by parents. This service comprises an assessment and tests lasting approximately 3 hours and an associated report suitable for submission to the local education authority.

Alternatively, either parents or school may request assistance in compiling their own Parental or Educational Advice as part of the documentation which is attached to a Statement of Special Educational Needs.
