"The Logical Way to be Informed"

Dyslexia and Educational Assessments For Children
Educational assessments may be undertaken at either  parents' or school's request. In the latter case, parental permission should be confirmed and it is usual for both a school and family questionnaire to be completed. The assessment comprises an interview and tests of 3 hours duration, followed by a detailed 10-15 page report which outlines the child's strengths, weaknesses and any identified learning difficulties. An Intelligence Quotient (I.Q.) will be ascertained, as well as diagnostic information which will indicate appropriate teaching materials and learning resources. For a student undertaking examination courses such as GCSE and Advanced level GCE or planning university entrance, the report may offer evidence towards formal concessions, where appropriate, and proposed learning support strategies. A follow-up telephone discussion with either school or parents is included as part of this service.

A visit to the child's school for classroom observation, examination of work, and/or staff discussion can be incorporated into any educational assessment at parents' and school's joint request.

Additional consultation meetings may be requested by either parents or school.
